You never expect when and you can never guess what is going to make your day. It was totally cool when a couple of hours ago, just at the end of the day, I saw a friend of mine with whom I have not been keeping in touch very regularly due to his work schedule. I was sitting next to the window at the Caribou on Broadway when a familiar face passed by, stopped, stepped a few steps back looking at me from outside with a big smile on his face.
I will not disclose his name as I didn't get permission form him to write about this, so I picked the letter M to refer to him. It was wonderful to see him again after a month, and chat about this and that and catch up. The first thing he told me was to explain why he couldn't take his smile off his face at all. I learned that he had found the most awesome person he had ever met. He had never felt such connectedness and reciprocation with anyone before, and with time it was only getting better.
It is hardly sufficient to describe M as happy - he was blissful. His smile could be seen form miles away, and he was radiant with joy. He was dancing with Life. It is so wonderful to meet happy people, especially when you know them as you feel closer to their happyness. Oh my god, if everyone could be only a fraction as happy and content as he was, the world would be paradise.
It doesn't happen so often when someone else's hapiness or success can make one's day. But this evening, M's happiness totally made my day!
I will be happy to hear you comments on what has made your day recently.

Re: What makes your day?
Joro, you are the sweetest person in the world!!! I'm a lot more selfish than you, it's all about me:)) But you make my days all the time, when you show me how much you care, when you listen to my stupid stories and you laugh, when you let me cry on your shoulder for hours and tell me everything will be ok, when you give me confidence and most of all WHEN YOU READ MY HORRIBLE POETRY without complaining:))) That's what makes my day- having a great friend I can count on. Love ya

Re: What makes your day?
Joro, what a wonderful story! Those of us who know you well enough won't be surprised that you were so moved by what's happening in your friend's life - you've shown us over and over what a sensitive, gentle, and emotional person you are.
Well, to share a recent story of mine that made my day, I am remembering Monday, July 31st. Ken and I were in Montreal for the OutGames at that time. It was late afternoon and we were back to Square Viger, the central meeting place of the OutGames. There were people everywhere, everyone was friendly, laughing, making new friends. People from all over the world were communicating in various languages. We sat at a table under an umbrella and each had a beer and something to eat, and watched the crowd. There was so much exhuberant joy in the air, that one couldn't help but be happy.
Then a thunderstorm came, and made us all wet, so Ken and I went to one of the booths, bought some Crocs (http://www.crocs.com), and after the rain stopped rolled our pants up and got into the fountain. It was so much fun! What made my day and Ken's was to see that the struggle for gay rights and acceptance, at least in some North-American cities, is OVER. It's one thing to be "tolerated", and a totally different to be "accepted, and respected", and to feel like that in the place you live/visit is definitely enough to make one's day fabulous! I don't think that I'll forget that day anytime soon...if ever.

Re: What makes your day?
Hey Heli, I read them all and they are really wonderful! I just couldn't stop reading. :)
And what makes my day is music. Because music is energy. This is what gives me power to go through all the tasks that every day holds.
What makes my day is friends like you, searching for things that make others happy! Thank you!
What makes my day is having a look at the mountain, the blue sky, the green trees..
What makes my day is my cat Tiko...
What makes my day are these little things that I do just for myself...
There is always something you can find to make your day! :)
Love You

Re: What makes your day?
George, Spending time with you I am sure makes the day of many people. You see so much positive in others, often when they do not. Your intellect is refreshing and the encouragement you pour out seems to be neverending. Can't help but think of the song My Favorite Things. Raindrops on Roses... how about---the joy of seeing someone find success, especially if you were able to help in some way, a parent listening intently to a small child, puppy breath, a waterfall, rainbows, the smell of fresh baked bread, the tired feeling brought on by an honest day's work (people who love their work), the list goes on. What really makes my day??? Anything that comes after "Daddy, guess what..."
